Leap Day.

Happy Leap Day cronies!

In Tabletalk, we are studying doctrines outlined in the Heidelberg Catechism, and have moved to understanding the nature of true faith. Understanding faith is essential if we are to know "whether or not we belong to the Savior."

A.W. Pink writes "Faith gives the object hoped for at a future period, a present reality and power in the soul, as if already possessed; for the believer is satisfied with the security afforded, and acts under the full persuasion that God will not fail in His engagement."

So what does this have to do with Leap Day?

It's about finding comfort that we don't have to take a "leap of faith." Faith isn't a blind leap into the dark or wishful thinking for things we want to be true. Instead, today's lesson says, "faith is grounded in the objective work of God in history, His revelation in nature and in Scripture serving as evidence that what we believe is true." (Luke 1:1-4, Romans 1:18-32)

Praise God that we can rest in knowing that He has kept His promises in the past and will do so in the future.

So let's just leave the leaping to the calendar... and Andrew and Anne :)

This is the only leaping photo I could find... nothing like a good leap six months pregnant!

  1. Come on, you're not leaping. You both are standing on glass tables that you photoshopped out...!

But great point about the nature of true faith!
