Uh Oh!

It was 4 p.m. on New Year's Eve. I was nursing an awful cold, Andrew was at work, and both girls were busy little bees.

I had no intention of ringing in the New Year this way, but God had better plans. I had my suspicions, even earlier that day when I was doing a little shopping and everything seemed to fit a little differently around the waist. So I did the only thing I knew I could do, and it turned out my suspicions were correct.

Yep, that's right! Baby Jones #3 will be gracing us with his/her presence the beginning of September! After a slight panic attack, a few moments of total disbelief (even after two additional tests), and some tears, I got up the nerve to send Andrew a text with the above photo. "This is NOT a joke," I said. He, too, had a moment, but, as always, was very comforting and supportive.

Needless to say, we were SHOCKED. I didn't have a clue how far along I was, because there was no timeline for me to go off of (if you catch my drift here....). I called the doctor the following week (and after about five more tests just to double check) to set up an appointment. The appointment was set for two weeks later.

Well it's now been two weeks since I had my first appointment, and, sure enough, those tests don't lie! It turns out I am currently 10 weeks along. I had my first ultrasound at the appointment (yay!) to find out how far along I was. There is something so special about the first moment you see your precious baby on the ultrasound machine. Up to that moment, I was still very skeptical about how I was going to function with three children under the age of three, but once I heard that heartbeat, I was sold. And even if I won't be able to function, God will get us through it.

Hello there little booger.

I still have my moments of panic (esp in the morning as I lie in bed, wishing for just a few more minutes of shut eye), but God is so gracious and His mercies are new every morning. I'm trusting in that promise as we prepare for this third blessing over the next seven months, and even more so, I'm praying that God will remind me of that once I feel like life is officially over in eight months. Haha!

So to clear things up just in case.... 1) no, we were not trying for another baby yet, 2) yes, we know where babies come from, and 3) don't let the title of this blog post fool you - we are thrilled. :)

"The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad." Psalm 126:3
